What is Dermapen?
Dermapen is a unique and innovative new technique to enhance the appearance of your skin without the need for invasive surgery. This fractional micro-needling treatment has an aerating effect on targeted areas of skin, helping to stimulate collagen production and prompt the skin to rejuvenate itself.
What is the skins appearance after the treatment?
After the procedure your skin will be red and flushed in appearance in a similar way to moderate sunburn. You may also experience skin tightness and mild sensitivity to touch on the area being treated. This will diminish greatly after a few hours following treatments and within the next 24 hours the skin will be completely healed. After 3 days there is barely any evidence that the procedure has taken place.
Is the DermaPen safe?
DermaPen micro-needling does not involve injections and therefore allergic reactions and side-effects are unlikely to occur. It is minimally invasive, involves minimal downtime (circa 24hrs), rapid healing and requires simple after-care.
Are there any side effects or risks associated with skin needling?
Side effects experienced with the DermaPen will usually subside within 48 hours. They include red or pinkish skin, stinging, itching, tightness of the treated area. To help with this, be sure to adhere to your aesthetician’s aftercare instructions following a DermaPen treatment. This will help to reduce redness, swelling, itching and discomfort and also enhance results.

How does Dermapen treat wrinkles, stretch marks, and scars?
Skin needling is based on the skin’s ability to heal itself after an injury. Right after the skin encounters any physical damage, it immediately eliminates the damaged tissue to replace it with new, healthy skin. Dermapen induces small, controlled areas of damage to trigger the production of new collagen without the risks of scarring resulting in smoother and firmer skin.
How long until I see results from Dermapen?
Each patient’s healing time varies, though most start to see results in one day to a week after treatment. Immediately after treatment, patients may notice a red appearance in the treatment area. Even a light treatment can enhance the appearance of skin texture and brighten your complexion.

What is Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)?
Combing Dermapen micro-needling with Platelet-rich Plasma, a patient can get a much more enhanced result. Platelet-rich plasma is harvested from the patient"s own blood and restored into the skin tissue during the micro-needling procedure. The end result is much faster healing and better collagen growth, creating a richer, smoother, glowing look to your skin.
The body’s ability to remodel and heal itself is at the heart of this amazing product and because the process never involves heat or thermal energy or other chemicals or unnecessary trauma, the skin can quickly heal with almost zero downtime.
HOW IS PRP CREATED?
Creation of PRP is simple, painless, and conveniently done at any visit. The entire process of drawing blood to solution preparation only takes approximately 25-30 minutes. A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient, just like a routine blood test. Once the blood is drawn it is then placed into a centrifuge. The centrifuge is a machine that spins the blood at high speeds in order to separate the blood into red blood cells and concentrated platelets. Once the blood is separated the red blood cells are discarded, and we are left with concentrated platelet rich plasma (PRP) which is ready to be used in the treatment process.

PRP is placed on top of the skin and DermaPen micro-needling rejuvenates and regenerates larger areas (fine wrinkles, under eye circles, forehead, hands, chest, and skin pigment problems). What Is Selphyl?
Selphyl uses platelet rich plasma (PRP) derived from a patient’s own blood sample to restore the skin and give patients a rejuvenated appearance. The platelets used in the treatment aid in tissue growth and regeneration, helping to naturally smooth and tighten the skin.
The Selphyl System is a completely closed system and can convert PRP to PRFM with the addition of a precise amount of calcium chloride, which initiates the conversion of fibrinogen to fibrin, as part of the clotting cascade. The fibrin matrix serves as a three dimensional scaffold to maintain the platelets at the site of injection. The scaffold also serves to protect the platelets so their release of growth factors can be sustained over a longer period of time.
